MDBG Chinese Reader: A Life-saver for anyone using Chinese! If you use Chinese for any reason, you need the world's fastest and most intuitive Chinese/English dictionary. I spend so much time at my computer that in only 3 years I've worn the numbers and letters off six of the keys. Much of the time I am using Chinese, and though I've been in Amoy China for 24 years (and 2 in Taiwan), I still have to look up quite a few Chinese words. Before, I laboriously cut and pasted into an old fashioned PC dictionary. Now, MDBG has turned what used to be laborious into the best method for learning I could imagine. Chinese characters literally come to life with MDBG Chinese Reader. I move the cursor to the Chinese character and instantly--it pops up in larger, easier to read format, with tones and pinyin, and the meaning in English. It will even read the character aloud! I can finally "read" Chinese text smoothly and quickly, without looking up characters in a dictionary (which is a pain, sometimes even for native speakers of Chinese, if you don't know the pronunciation, stroke order, or radical)> The more I use MDBG, the more I learn, and the faster I learn! For years (decades, sadly!), learning Chinese was an uphill battle for me. I'd learn 5 characters one day and forget 10 the next. It was like pushing a lead ball up a hill--but now that ball is rolling downhill, and with some good inertia behind it. The more I learn, the faster I learn. MDBG, used daily during my work, study, writing, or quiet time, is the best way I've found to improve both my Chinese reading and writing. MDBG is not only the best but always getting better. The folks at MDBG are not content with the best Chinese software around. They update it often, and write customers asking for their feedback. And the couple times I've had questions, MDBG support responded promptly, personably, and patiently (as if I was the only one in the world asking such a dumb question). They do have a free version, supported by ads--but do them a favor and buy the full version. These people are doing all of us a great service. After all, in today's world, everyone should have a little Chinese under their belt (unfortunately, with so many good Chinese cuisines, most of us have too much Chinese over our belt!) Enjoy Amoy!
