For a classless society, the MBA Center sure gives me a lot of classes (especially considering that Susan Marie says I have no class at all)... Whereas in the early 90s we had to literally drag students in, now we have them coming out our ears. How times have changed since Xiada MBA awarded China’s 1st MBA degrees! (We beat Nankai Univ. by one week).

Our School of Management (SM) was ranked #3 in China in 2003—which may explain our mushrooming enrolment. We now have 230 doctoral students, 1860 master students, over 1800 undergraduates, and 17 fellows in post-doctoral program.

SM has departments for accounting, business administration, manage-ment science, and tourism management, as well as centers for MPAcc, MBA and EMBA Education, Logistics and Project Management Education. The four institutes include Accounting, Management Science, Human Resources, and Finance Management.

SM offers 7 undergraduate programs, 5 masters programs, a doctoral program and a post-doctoral program in the fields of accounting, business management, corporate finance, technological economics and management, and tourism management. Five professional graduate programs are in MBA, EMBA, M.P.Acc, Logistics Management, and Project Management.

Our MBA program began in 1987 as a joint project with Dalhousie, Saint Mary’s, and other Canadian universities with the support of the Canadian International Development Agency. The first 30 MBAs graduated in July, 1990—and some still write me. I’ve received their Chinese New Year and Christmas cards from such diverse places as Beijing, New York, and Helsinki Finland!

Xiamen University’s School of Management has 7 undergraduate programs in accounting, business administration, corporate finance, human resource management, e-commerce, management science, and tourism management, as well as 5 postgraduate MBA programs, and 3 doctor-degree programs in accounting, business administration and tech-economics & management. The school has over 1600 undergraduates and 1200 graduates. Exciting times—unless you’re trying to remember their names.

Our students have included the CEO of Xiamen Electronics, the Director of Fuyao Glass Industry, and graduates are working in such firms as Kodak, Dell, Nokia (China), GE China, Credit Lyonnais Bank. Some are pretty big potatoes now. (Don’t forget your teacher!).

The large staff includes three of China’s top authorities in accounting: Professors Xuying Yu, Shuipeng Wu, and Jiashu Ge. And Professor Wu Shinong is Vice Chairman of the National Supervisory Committee for MBA Education.
Since the period of the Tenth Five-Year Plan, the SM’s faculty members have published over 1100 academic papers and nearly 100 monographs, won over 30 research awards, and undertaken over 70 research projects at provin-cial, ministerial or national level. The School now has an in-place research fund of RMB 11 million.

SM has long-term collaborative relations with many overseas universi-ties, including Cornell University and Washington University in the U.S., the University of Newcastle in the U.K., and St. Mary’s University in Canada. Top scholars from home and abroad are adjunct professors at SM, and give lectures for both students and faculty.

最新消息！首批MPAcc研究生在厦入学
“150名财务、会计等相关行业从业者昨日走进高校课堂攻读硕士，这些由厦大和厦门国家会计学院联合培养的学生，是中国首批会计硕士专业学位教育学员。

会计硕士专业学位（Master of Professional Accounting，英文缩写为MPAcc）。国务院学位办和教育部在150多所申请高校中选取了21所作为首批试点院校，厦大是试点院校之一，此外，厦大和厦门国家会计学院按联合培养方式开展MPAcc试点。“ （来源：双语周刊，厦门日报，2005.3.29）

厦门大学管理学院在2003年排名位列第3，这或许可以解释为什么会有那么多学生选择厦大管理学院。我们现在有230名博士研究生，1860名硕士研究生以及超过1800人的本科生，还有17个博士后。

管理学院由会计系、企业管理系、管理科学系、旅游管理系以及MPAcc教育中心、MBA教育中心、EMBA教育中心、物流管理与项目管理工程教育中心组成。管理学院还包含四个研究所，分别为会计研究所、现代管理研究所、人力资源研究所和公司财务研究所。

管理学院目前在会计学、企业管理、财务管理、技术经济与管理、旅游管理等领域开设了7个本科课程，5个研究生课程，1个博士生课程及1个博士后站，5个专业硕士学位授权点（MBA、EMBA、MPAcc、物流管理与项目管理工程硕士）。

管理学院拥有一支高素质、优秀的师资队伍，包括中国会计学的三大专家：于绪缨教授、吴水澎教授、葛家澍教授。还有吴世农教授，他是全国工商管理硕士（MBA）教育指导委员会副主任。

自从第十个五年计划开始，管理学院的教师已经相继发表了1100多篇的学术论文，提出了将近100多项的专题，获得30多个研究奖励，承担了70多个省级、部级、国家级的科研课题，学院现有立项的研究基金将近1100万元。管理学院与海外的许多大学都有长期的合作联系，包括美国的康奈尔大学、华盛顿大学，英国的纽卡斯尔大学，加拿大的圣玛丽大学。学院拥有多名客座教授，来源于多所国内外顶尖大学，他们经常性的对学院学生及教师发表演讲。
